Ovid's and Shakespeare's epitaphs
26+28 Initials in Ovid's and Shakespeare's
epitaphs
I. Ovid's Initials
III. SYNOPSIS
The 26+28 initials of both epitaphs are another proof
of Shakespeare's extraordinary gematric capacities. It is entirely unimaginable
that he didn't study Ovid's gematric construction of his initials most
carefully. Again Shakespeare varies Ovid's plan and gives both construction an
encompassing meaning.
I.
Ovid's Initials
1.
According to the four lines of his epitaph Ovid regards
the 26 initials as 4 words of 7+5+9+5 letters so that he can determine the 4values of each group:

507 =
13*3*13; 507:130 = 13*(39:10) |
The
results show that Ovid makes 13
the main factor. He achieves three ratios: First,
he treats the NS+FS
and their respective FV1/FV2 as two groups
whose sums are 13*(39:10). Second, he connects the 4v-sums of the two
hexameters and of the two pentameters, which produces the ratio 390:247 = 13*(30:19). The single digits of both ratios represent 1 midpoint + 9
points of one tetractys + 3 remaining points
of the hexagram. Third,
he also connects the 4v-sums of the first two and the
last two lines: 294:343 = 49*(6:7).
2.
The total 13*49 refers
to the 49 elements of the hexagramm which
include 13 points. If the
hexagram is provided with an outer circle line, the midpoint of the hexagon has
to be counted a second time. The ratio of the two circle areas is 1:3:
|
The FV of 13*49 is 13+(7+7) = 27. With regard to the circle areas
this means that 13 points represent 3 area
units and 7+7 points 1+3 area units. As the FV2-sum is 49,
the ratio 49*(1:12) can be understood as the area ratio 1:(1+2).
3.
Surprisingly, the two 4v-sums 130 and 226 are the same as for IESUS CHRISTUS:

Instead
of 13, Shakespeare chooses 17 as common factor. Like Ovid Shakespeare makes
the NS+FS
and the FV1/2-sums divisible by the same
number.
2.
While Ovid aims at ratios of the 4v-sums, Shakespeare
concentrates on the NS+FS
results, connecting the first two and last two lines. He also combines the NS and FS with
their respective FV-sums.
1. The NS+FS of the 26+28 = 54 initials are 507+527
= 1034 = 22*47. This is part of the total NS+FS 102*47
of 242
letters (cf. addendum1). 102
is the NS of PENSATOR
(he who compensates, rewards), the 8 different letters of the SATOR Square.
The difference 102-22 = 80 is the FS of
PENSATOR.
The
remaining NS+FS
for 242-54 = 188 letters is 80*47.
As 188 is 4*47,
there is an average NV+FV
of 20 (*4*47) for
each letter. 20 is relatable to two
tetractyses with 10 points for each. As each
tetractys consists of 37 elements, 20 points can stand for 74,
the NS of WILLIAM.
188 is the NS+FS of CHRISTUS. So the two epitaphs under the protection
of Jesus Christ himself, the redeemer of all men.
2. Shakespeare contrives
a ratio of the NS+FS
of the first and the third lines and the second and fourth lines:

213+403 = 616 |
||
222+196 = 418 |
The
ratio of the two sums is 22*(28:19).
Shakespeare obviously knew about the distinction between measures and
delimiting points, as can be shown in a circle:
|
There
are 9 basic numbers. 0 is uncountable, but it serves as the beginning of the first
measure. The circle shows 1+9 points and 2+8 measures. Accordingly, the FV1/2-sums amount to 3-17.
3. The factors of the
combined 4v-sum 1351 are 7*193. They are relatable to 7 points of the hexagon and 13 points of the hexagram and so once more
represent the area ratio 1:3 of the
two concentric circles.
The factoral computation of
the two sums produces an interesting result:

1407 = 7*201 is the inversion of 714 = 7*102. 102 is the NS of the 8 different letters of the SATOR
Square and 201 the NS
of the 17 remaining letters. It is noteworthy
that the 4value–sum of the four Latin words of the Christian trinity is 817:
